EIMEAR MC GEOWN
FLUTE/TIN WHISTLE
Armagh-born Eimear McGeown has established a busy and varied career based in London since graduating from Trinity College of Music in 2005 with the BMus (Hons) 1st class degree. She has performed as Soloist in America, France, Greece, UK and Ireland including a World Premiere Concerto in the Library of Congress in Washington DC. She has performed Concertos with the Ulster Orchestra including an appearance at the ‘BBC Proms in the Park’ in September 2012. She made her solo TV debut performing for RTE TV on 'The View' and has since performed on BBC TV. She has won many awards including the TCM Silver Medal Award and First Prize ‘Best Performer’ at the Sir James Galway International Flute Festival. Eimear was recently invited by Her Majesty the Queen to attend a Royal Reception at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the achievements of young people in the performing arts.
Eimear studied Traditional Irish flute with Seamus Tansey and was All Ireland Flute Champion twice. Her versatility as a flautist has led to her performing in the West End Production of 'Lord of the Rings’ and she also tours with folk/rock band 'Amsterdam', including performances at Glastonbury Festival and supporting ‘The Pogues’.
