The Irish Memory Orchestra were a National Finalist and Galway County Winner in the Arts and Culture category at the prestigious National Lottery Good Causes Awards. We were delighted to attend the ceremony.

Irish Memory Orchestra – 10th Anniversary Celebration. Conducted by Dave Flynn.

The Irish Memory Orchestra celebrated their 10th Anniversary with a special concert at Ireland’s National Concert Hall. Included the world premiere of the new Dave Flynn piece ‘Deich’ a 10th anniversary fanfare.

Matthew Berrill on saxophone/clarinets, Aisling Agnew on flutes, Dave Flynn on guitar and Aidan Dunphy on percussion.

The music in this concert is influenced by a variety of styles including traditional Irish, Jazz, Classical and African music and provides a snapshot of The Irish Memory Orchestra.

This quartet comprises musicians who have all performed extensively with Dave Flynn’s ‘Irish Memory Orchestra’.
They will play compositions by Dave Flynn, including the movements ‘Kilbaha Jazz’, ‘The Mullah of Mullagh’ and ‘Midnight in Ballyvaughan’ from Flynn’s ‘Clare Concerto’. This performance will include a variety of other pieces including Flynn’s arrangement of Máirtín O’Connor’s composition ‘The Cuckoo’.

Éin – The Birds of Dublin (World Premiere) – by IMO Chamber Group

“ÉIN – The Birds of Dublin” was commissioned by Creative Ireland South Dublin for Ruaille Buaille Lucan’s Children Music Festival with Cruinniú South Dublin 2022.
With ÉIN, composer Dave Flynn cleverly transfered the magical sounds of some of Dublin’s very musical birds into new music composed for versatile members of the Irish Memory Orchestra – Aisling Agnew (flute), Aidan Dunphy (percussion), Maria O’Connor (cello), Róisín Donohoe (viola & voice) and Dave on guitar.
